The Story of Narakasura and it's relevance to the modern world :

In the Srimad Bhagavatam( about 800 BC ) ,
Narakasura is the asura son of the goddess Earth Bhudevi and the 3rd avatar of Vishnu. He is said to have grown to be a demon through association with Banasura  (EFFECTS OF BAD FRIENDSHIPHis mother, the earth, sought the boon from Vishnu that her son should have a long life, and that he should be all powerful. (MOTHER'S LOVE)

Drunk with power, . Naraka had become the overlord of both the heavens and earth.( Igniting IMAGINATION ) .. Addicted to power, he stole the possessions of Aditi, while also kidnapping 16000 women( GREED N OVER-AMBITION)   As promised to Mother Earth, Naraka was allowed to enjoy a long reign. ( MATTER OF PRINCIPLE IN KEEPING THE WORD )

When Satyabhama heard of the Narakasura's ill treatment of women, she was enraged. As promised to the Devas and Aditi, Krishna and Bhama attacked the great fortress of Narakasura, riding his mount Garuda with wife Satyabhama.  The battle was furiously fought. Narakasura possessed 11 Akshauhini (a division of the army), that he unleashed on Krishna. However, the Lord slew them all with little effort. ( THE POWER OF GOOD OVER EVIL )

In desperation, Narakasura launched his great weapon, sataghini (a thunderbolt) on Krishna. it made no impact . Krishna beheaded him with his Sudarshana Chakra ( RESTORATION OF JUSTICE N PEACE)

Before dying, the Asura requested a boon that his death should be celebrated . This day is celebrated as 'Naraka Chaturdashi' - the second day of Diwali.Krishna grants his last wish (KINDNESS EVEN TOWARDS AN ENEMY )

Krishna's and Satyabhama's victory on Narakasura translated into freedom for all his prisoners and honoring of Aditi. Having rescued the 16,100 women, Krishna married them to restore them to their former dignity( DIGNITY N RESPECT TOWARDS WOMEN )

One must learn from Puranas and Scriptures  the need to be good  and the ways to be so. Indian Vedic pool of Information has so much to offer and we must try to incorporate the values of ancient literature into our modern lives for better perspectives.

We should move towards doing the right things rather than Doing things right.

The Glory of Endurance

Building up strength each time we fall,
Making things right to go the long way!

Perhaps it all happens for a reason
as a test to our endurance.
It is our song to follow the heart
Make sure to take the brain along!

When the journey is done,
Having the failure's criticism
and the achiever's glory
both turn out to give glory!
returning braver and focused!

To see the light and to find the path
and reach the goals,
certainty comes with the search.
Complete the journey whatsoever!

MYSTERIOUS MIND

Our Universe has both matter and energy. As we go from compounds to invisible protons and electrons, there are swift transformations between matter and energy questioning the real nature of physical world and composition of things around us in the most minute level possible.

Just as energy cannot be seen but its effects can be felt, Mind is an instrument of inner “Self” whose existence can be felt every second in every action. According to science, mind is a nervous system- function it’s like an  excretion of brain like bile from liver.

According to Vedas, mind resides in heart but its presence is felt in every living cell. Mind and matter are two aspects as subject and object of one and the same eternal soul-the ‘Prana’ who is neither and yet includes both.

Mind is not a gross thing, visible and tangible. Its magnitude cannot be measured and its existence needs no space. It is subtle matter. Special knowledge that differentiates human beings from other animals is that an animal has physical consciousness and a low level or no self-consciousness. A man not only is “aware” but is aware that he is “aware”. This is mental consciousness. There is something called reasoning, intellect and ultimately the intuition which we are privileged of experiencing.

When a mind is turned to a thought, it dwells on it. Everything in this material world about us had its origin first in thoughts. Thought is an instrument of mind and the reality of universe lies in “Sankalpa”( Thought ) of “Manas” ( Mind ). These thoughts travel as vibrations from mind into the air creating the experience of thinking. They are the cause for bondage, pain and bliss.

The life of the mind is kept up through the silent vibrations of physic prana which gives rise to the formation of thought. To make or break this fragile and subtle mind is in our hands. Body is the shadow of mind. It is the mould prepared by the mind for its expression.
Self-realisation should be our highest duty and goal in life, to understand the marvelous mind and value of each level of existence.                                                                                                        If studied closely the action of mind upon mind and matter, we realise that every soul is potentially divine and holds the power of life. When mind is so much powerful, what to speak of the glory of INNER-SELF who is the storehouse of everything that is infinite and inexhaustible, from whom our little mind borrows light.

The Matter of Heart!

As I made it easy for you,
You are now strong enough..
Now that I need you to stay,
You make it tough for me..

Why does this happen?
when it comes to heart!
what is it that drives it?
I always wonder!

Logic doesn't make sense
when emotion takes its place..
Even if it seems to be too late,
as a matter of fact,it is never so!

HOPE

Hope is what it takes,
to brighten up thoughts
    lighten up minds
to teach us not to say good bye,
to pick up the broken pieces and
     stick them together!

Hope is what it takes,
to bring back the aura
to start believing again
to walk in darkness fearless
to imagine,dream and realize!

Hope is what it takes,
to welcome change
to find the right moment
to let ourselves free,
and reach the destiny!

It can suppress pain
It can take up the journey
and it can DO it!

HOPE FOR IT!!

Something Precious!

Something very precious,
Bondage each time I write,
It gives power invaluable,
conveys feelings inexpressible..

Something very beautiful,
I feel so strong like I can
change the world..

May be I love describing it,
I am sure it is worth all words,
My precious pen!!

For its modesty,
for the way it is
self-less and true to me,
for the way it conveys thoughts
unmodified and pure as they are!
